Taboo! The Hidden Culture of a Red Light Area,
Oxford University Press, 2001.
This is an ethnography of the traditional red light area in Lahore. It reflects upon the socialized gender roles in Pakistan and questions the basics of patriarchy. The original English version has opened national dialog on this subject. Urdu, Hindi and Marathi translations have been also published. A translation in Arabic is in process.
